FAQ
We begin each session by adding ourselves to the story sack register and then find a comfy spot to come and welcome eachother and listen to the story. Once we're explored the story we will open up the activity stations. These are different at each session and are all themed to the book in some way. We always offer at least one craft, one sensory, one fine motor (playdough/cutting) one story retelling and then additional activities to suit the book. Each 1.5 hour session allows you to play at your own pace in whatever way you choose with your little one. If you choose to spend all your time playing in one station that's absolutely fine! It's a great way to learn what types of activities your little ones are drawn to. We also include phonics and early maths in some of our sessions and can add these to any session that a parent/carer requests them. We always end the session by coming back together for a song and to share our favourite moments of the session before saying goodbye.
If we're lucky enough to have outside space at our session venue we will always try to explore that as part of the session too.
Our sessions are best for children aged 3-5 (pre-school/reception) and are designed for you to play together with your child - children must not be left unsupervised. I've spent many an afternoon letting my own little ones burn off steam at soft play while I sneak a coffee in but our sessions aren't that kind of play - you will be exploring with your little one for the entire time. Sessions are not designed for children under three due to both the use of small parts and the ingredients used in our play however younger siblings are welcome to join us if supervised at all times. We can welcome 2 year olds however please be aware that the sessions include a 10-15 minute circle time where the children sit and share a story.
We are happy to welcome siblings but due to the nature of our activities - all children must play at the same station to ensure you can supervise them at all times. All children aged 2-7 must have a ticket to ensure that we have enough resources on the day. Children under 2 do not need a ticket unless they would like to join in with craft activities.
